About the Department
One of the largest depts.in the Chennai City Govt. Colleges known for its reputation having teaching staff strength of 31(Including 3 GL) . Among the regular 28 staff members,18 staff are doctorates, 6 Associate Professors and the remaining staff are pursuing the Ph.D programme. Besides, five staff members have guideships and currently guiding the full time and part time research students. Dept of English is connected with 19 departments in the college, meeting all the learners everyday by imparting the knowledge of English language at the core level. English language Lab serves as a supporting learning center to learn the language based on LSRW Pattern.

A.Vishnukumar of III BA ‘A’ has been promoted from Referee level 8 to Level 7 in the All India Football Federation is latest achievement .
Furthermore, we have poets, authors, Orators, member of Govt. Academic planning commision etc., among the teaching fraternity .
